I turn complex data into clear, reliable answers, from genomes to rivers and power grids.

I'm a bioinformatician and data scientist who works end to end: from the experiments that generate the data (NGS assay development, qPCR, in vivo studies, microtomy) to the Python, R and SQL pipelines that clean, analyse and model it, and the charts and write-ups that explain it to scientists and non-specialists alike. I'm currently completing my MSc at University College Cork, with a thesis at IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND in Málaga integrating microbiome and metabolomics data from bariatric surgery patients. I've also applied the same skills to public data: a CDISC clinical trial taken from raw data to safety tables with independent double-programming QC, how airway cells respond to H7N9 compared with three other flu strains, the banana DNA-damage gene I cloned at NABI followed across 17 plant genomes, why 40,124 clinical trials stop early and which ones are at risk, a 7-day early warning for river low flows, day-ahead forecasts of Ireland's electricity demand, how much wind the all-island grid turns away when demand is low, checked against EirGrid's own figures, 2040 plans for Cork's and Dublin's electricity grids with interactive substation maps, who Cork's planned commuter rail stations would reach, a Census 2022 study of health and deprivation across 3,420 communities, a monthly unemployment outlook, a weekly KPI toolkit for a discount supermarket chain, and a propensity-versus-uplift study of who a subscriber campaign should contact.

My name, written in DNA

Each letter is 8 bits of ASCII, and every 2 bits become one base: 00 = A, 01 = C, 10 = G, 11 = T. Hover a letter to find its four bases.

  1. May 2026 to Oct 2026

    MSc thesis researcher

    IBIMA Plataforma BIONAND, Málaga, Spain

How do gut microbes and faecal metabolites change after bariatric surgery, and do they change together?

    • Microbiome: raw Ion Torrent 16S rRNA reads processed in QIIME2 (DADA2, SILVA) into taxonomic profiles
    • Metabolomics: exploratory analysis of faecal metabolomics to find metabolites linked to surgery
    • Comparisons: before vs after surgery, RYGB vs SG, and patients with obesity vs a healthy lean reference cohort
    • Integration: linking taxa and metabolites with mixOmics (sPLS, DIABLO)
    QIIME2RmixOmics16S rRNAMetabolomics
  2. Sep 2024 to Jan 2025

    R&D researcher

    Premas Life Sciences, New Delhi

Built sequencing-based diagnostic kits that identify infections by reading pathogen DNA.

    • Led R&D on NGS kits for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and three other infectious diseases
    • Optimised the Illumina sequencing workflow, making diagnostics 20% more efficient
    • Implemented bioinformatics pipelines to validate each assay's sensitivity

  3. Jul to Nov 2024

    Researcher

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali

Studied Cyp19a1, the aromatase gene that makes estrogen, from expression data to behaviour.

    • Compared Cyp19a1 differential expression across human and mouse models and its links to ovarian cancers
    • Performed ovariectomies on 40+ mice to model estrogen loss
    • Measured neurological effects with AnyMaze behavioural phenotyping

  4. Jul to Nov 2023

    Researcher

National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI), Mohali

Took the banana gene Ma-SOG1 from computer analysis to genetic transformation.

    • Assessed the gene's structural and functional properties in silico
    • Designed high-efficiency expression vectors for Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation
    • Used plant histology and microtomy to examine cell architecture and localise gene expression
    In silicoVector designMicrotomy
  5. Jun to Jul 2023

    Summer intern

DS Kothari Centre, Miranda House, New Delhi

Learned tissue histology hands-on and presented it as a research poster.

    • Sectioned rat tissue on a manual rotary microtome and prepared H&E stains
    • Presented the poster “Microtomy and staining: a histological study of tissue”
